Improvising using trance masks, is a form of improvisation originally taught by Keith Johnstone and will help you to go deeper to awaken the inner creative genius within you. You will experience the power of using masks be surprised to discover what is possible. This course is good for beginners and experienced improvisors.
This 2 day course will help you to experience a freer and more intuitive way of expressing yourself. It is amazing to discover the freedom that a mask will give you, also how you can transfer that freedom into your art and life.
Wearing a mask is a powerful way to unlock your creativity and to discover how to be expressive. Masks help us to release the pressure to "create" as we let the mask lead us. Masks allow us to experience new possibilities for self expression and creativity. No previous experience with Improv is required, all welcome to explore.
Simone Tani is one of the founder members of the improvisation company i Bugiardini in Rome and the theatre company Teatro Pomodoro, based in Liverpool, that perfomed at Edinburgh Fringe, Camden Fringe, Threshold Festival and Physical Fest. Simone performs and teaches trance masks, improvisation and drama around the world. Recently he taught Trance Mask at University of Chester, LIPA, Malaya University in Kuala Lumpur, Chokolate Theatre in Hong Kong, I-Theatre in Singapore and National Taiwan University of Arts.
A graduate from Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris, he has also studied with various masters including Keith Johnstone, Shawn Kinley and Dennis Cahill (improvisation), John Wright, Mark Bell and Peta Lily (dark clown), Steve Jarand (trance and full masks), Carlo Boso (Commedia dell'Arte) and Anom Ida Bagus (balinese mask making).
